At Geelong After Dark


Earth, Wind and Fire, a work by award-winning Surf Coast composer  Callum Watson performed by Jessica Zuk (Piccolo) and Joel Hands-Otte (Bass Clarinet).

This technically challenging yet sublime work explores the scope of earthy sounds that can be produced by this uniquely versatile combination of instruments.

Geelong After Dark (GAD) takes place from 6.00pm-10.00pm on Friday 4 May 2018. This event activates venues and spaces in unique and unexpected ways. Central Geelong will explode with a range of pop-up installations, light shows, performances, films and ‘extreme’ art.

Geelong Fringe Sundays

Geelong's newest event "Fringe Sundays" sees local musicians collaborate on innovative, genre-spanning projects at Geelong's iconic Black Hatt Hotel. Expect something new at every event.

 Growing on the success of this first event Fringe Sundays will continue with a new show on June 3 that will gather a new ensemble of eclectic Geelong and Surf Coast musicians for an afternoon exploring approaches to adding potent Jazz stylings to past and present top 40 hits, This will be explored through a selection of Callum's arrangement created specifically for the event – sure to be another hit!

Echoes of Earth CD launch

An extraordinary new CD produced by Callum, which sees some of Melbourne’s finest classical and jazz musicians coming together for one of the most ambitious recording projects staged at St Andrews Anglican Church, Brighton is soon to be released to the public.

The CD features 13 tracks in all showcasing the fruits of a new collaboration with flautist Jessica Zuk and clarinetist Joel Hands-Otte

The CD will be launched at North Melbourne as part of an exclusive three-month residency at Club Voltaire on the fourth saturday of the month. All three performers play a recital on the night as part of ‘Callum Watson Group’. CD’s will be available for purchase at each performance of the residency.

Club Voltaire Monthly Residency

Following their critically acclaimed performance, Callum Watson Group is taking on a monthly residency at Club Voltaire on the fourth Saturday of each month starting March 24. Thanks to Events Geelong for giving our first Fringe Sundays event at the Black Hatt Geelong coverage.
Hope your able to come.Fringe Sundays is a new event that sees local musicians collaborate on innovative, genre-spanning projects at the Black Hatt Hotel. Expect something new at every event.

The first event will see members of Flawed Peace and Geelong RSL Pipes & Drums collaborate for an afternoon of Rock and Celtic fusion. They will be playing new arrangements of songs from the rock, classical and celtic repertoires as well as compositions created by the group.

Introducing my 1903 "Waltham" Gold fob watch.
This fob watch has a fascinating history. It was owned by the organist who played at the silent movie theatre in Fingal Head, northern New South Wales. The theatre has been demolished but the watch made in 1903 is still ticking and is my prized new possession.
The original owner refused to wear a wrist watch because it would rub on his wrist while he was playing. As unlikely as it sounds 115 years later I had similar issues while playing my piano and requested a fob watch... it was meant to be!
