Thanks to everyone that came out to Christmas at the Piano last night with Lucy Head Music and Isabella Khalife. It was a hot night - but was still so much fun.
I'll be releasing some recordings from the event shortly. In the meantime check out these great shots by Patrick Callow who was kind enough to pay us a visit...

I just love how the Geelong community are getting behind Christmas At The Piano - Geelong's newest Christmas celebration. Check out this wonderful interview by Humans in Geelong about superstar young vocalist Lucy Head Music who will be featured at this years event.

For more information about Christmas At The Piano and tickets go to callumwatson.com.au/christmas/

#jazz #christmas #christmasingeelong #vocals“Nothing gives me that kick quite like being on stage and telling a story through music, the adrenaline rush is amazing! I’d recommend that anyone with the same passion and drive in the field, get out there, make connections and take on every opportunity that comes your way”. I had the pleasure of interviewing the delightful and talented Jazz, Blues and Soul vocalist Lucy Head Music, 17.

You can catch Lucy at ‘Christmas at the Piano’ which sees some of #Geelong’s best young soloists come together to celebrate Christmas with new arrangements of the classic carols you expect, plus some you don’t know, presented with the highest level of musicianship. This is Geelong's newest carols event which will be held December 7th at the Black Hatt Geelong. www.eventbrite.com/e/christmas-at-the-piano-tickets-52243977142

Lucy is one of the region’s few passionate young jazz vocalists. She is representative of the growing jazz culture in Geelong. “I’ve been in the Sweethearts and I currently perform with Kardinia International College’s Square 1 who play funk pop. My love of Jazz was born when I spent a couple of months in France, then Switzerland last year. Some of my key influences are Ella Fitzgerald, Norah Jones and Katie Melua.

“My dad, Tim Head, is my inspiration. We play together and he encouraged and inspired me to start playing the guitar and writing songs when I was 11.

“I received the ‘Best Solo Vocalist’ award in 2015 in the Wakakirri competition. I’ve also written songs on political issues, my most recent being an evocative ballad on child marriage.

“I met Callum Watson through the Cowrie Market. He liked my work and created a temporary Jazz band and we performed together. It’s great to develop so many creative connections. I’m stoked to be performing for his event ‘Christmas at the Piano’.”
